Ranbir Kapoor is a popular Indian actor who works in Bollywood. He is the member of the well known Kapoor family. He is the son of the famous actor Rishi Kapoor and actress Neetu Singh. He is the grandson of the great Raj Kapoor.He has received many awards.

He started his film career after acting in Saawariya. Some of his well-known films are Wake Up Sid, Rockstar, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Early Life and family[]

Ranbir Kapoor was born on 28th September, 1982, to actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh in Bombay. He also has a sister named Riddhima. Kapoor is the cousin of actors Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, Karan Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor. He is also the nephew of actors, Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. He is the grandson of Raj Kapoor and grandnephew of stars, Shashi and Shammi Kapoor.

Career[]

Debut and Initial Success[]

Ranbir worked as the assistant of the director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the film Black. After this, Bhansali casted Kapoor to be the lead of his next film Saawariya (2007), alongside Sonam Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. The film was a commercial success and a box-office hit. Kapoor's performance was well-praised by the critics. His was awarded with 'The Filmfare Award for the Best Debut'.

He was contacted by Yash Raj Films for his primary role in Bachna Ae Haseeno, directed by Siddharth Anand. He was cast alongside Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba. In the film he acted as a womaniser who is romantically involved with three women.

He acted in Wake Up Sid, a coming-of-age film directed by Ayan Mukerji, he was cast alongside Konkona Sen Sharma as Sid Mehra (Kapoor), a rich but lazy teenager, whose life changes after meeting an ambitious journalist (Sen Sharma). It eventually emerged as a sleeper hit and garnered acclaim from the critics. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama reviewed that Kapoor's performance in the film proved that he was "amongst the best in the business today".

Kapoor starred opposite Katrina Kaif in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. A slapstick comedy of Rajkumar Santoshi. It emerged as the 4th highest grossing Bollywood film of 2009.
